You may have booked, or be looking at booking, a once-in-a-lifetime trip to an amazing destination, or heading off on a round-the-world adventure. Perhaps you are a regular business traveller, planning a trip to see relatives or friends abroad or are jetting off to discover new places. Whatever the reason for your trip and wherever you are headed, you should consider whether there are potential health risks that may threaten to ruin your time away and could leave you with lasting health issues.

Vaccines afford protection against diseases that can ruin your trip, cause severe illness or, in some cases, even death. Despite known risks, a large proportion of UK holidaymakers do not get protected by vaccinations before travelling, despite travelling to areas that have life-threatening infectious disease.

Vaccinations can protect you against many infections that you may be likely to come across when you travel to destinations outside the UK. These can include: polio; typhoid; hepatitis A and B; rabies; cholera and Japanese encephalitis. Your risks of each disease vary depending upon: where you are going; how you are getting there; where you are staying and what you plan to do on your trip.

What to do now

If you would like to find out more about your travel health needs then simply book an appointment with one of our travel clinicians using the booking link.

The cost of your appointment can be redeemed against any vaccinations administered during your appointment.

Within 48hrs of making a booking you will receive an email from “Nuumad”, with a link to complete an online travel health assessment form which must be completed prior to your appointment. You will need information about: yourself and your GP; your trip; your vaccination history and your medical background. Your vaccination history which can be obtained by contacting your GP or logging into your NHS app.

At the end of your appointment you can request to be emailed a copy of your consultation details, including all of the helpful travel health advice you have discussed in you appointment and more.

Terms and Conditions 

We understand schedules can change and unforeseen circumstances can arise. To ensure we can accommodate all of our clients, we kindly request adherence to our cancellation policy.

1. Cancellation Notice

Clients must notify us of cancellations or appointment changes at least 24 hours in advance.

To cancel or reschedule, please login to your client portal or email clinic@monkbarpharmacy.co.uk.

2. Late Cancellations

Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment time will incur the booking fee of your appointment.

This fee compensates our team for the time that was set aside specifically for you.

3. No-shows

Failing to show up for your scheduled appointment without prior notification will result in a 100% charge of the scheduled service cost.

Repeat no-shows may result in having to prepay in full for future services or lead to an inability to book future appointments.

4. Late Arrivals

We understand delays can happen, however, if our clinicians feel that there is no longer time to safely provide the service to you in the remaining time, you may be asked to reschedule. Our clinician’s decision on this is final. We may decide to treat tardiness as a late cancellation and apply the applicable fee. This ensures we can provide the best and safest service to you and our other clients.

5. Exceptions

We recognise emergencies and special circumstances can occur. Exceptions to our policy are made on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of Monkbar Pharmacy management.

6. Refunds

Cancellation fees and deposits are non-refundable unless your appointment has been re-scheduled with more than 24 hours notice. All requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to contact@monkbarpharmacy.co.uk. All requests will be considered within 4 weeks of receipt.
